Ashoka Fellow Molly Barker, Empathy and Girls on the Run

An interview with Molly Barker, founder of Girls on the Run, an international grassroots movement and nonprofit organization that encourages pre-teen girls to develop self respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Molly has a Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina and is a four time Hawaii Ironman Triathelete.

Molly’s program started with a pilot initiative in 1996 that engaged 13 girls. Today the movement has spread to more than 176 communities across America serving literally hundreds of thousands of girls on their journey to be joyful, healthy and confident.
