TED is a nonprofit with a mission to spread ideas, usually in the form of short and engaging talks (18 minutes or less.) The organization began in 1984 as a conference based on the convergence of Technology, Entertainment and Design, but today the organization covers all topics, from psychology to business to science to art to poetry. Talks are available in over 100 languages, and the organization also sponsors independently run TEDx events geared at helping to share ideas in communities all across the globe.
